Frequently Asked Questions
How much does therapy cost?
My fee is per session and based on a sliding scale, between $ 90 - $ 110 for a 50-minute session. I accept both checks and cash.
Do you work with Insurance?
Unfortunately, I don't work directly with insurance. However, I am happy to give you receipts that you can submit to your insurance and see if they will cover the therapy out-of-network. I can't guarantee that it will be covered, but you can give it a shot!
What should I expect in the first session?
Going to therapy, especially for the first time, can be a little nervewracking. I will do my best to make you feel comfortable and safe. I will move at the pace you set - I will never try to "pry" information from you, or talk about something that you are not ready to talk about. In the first session, I will ask you why you decided to come in to therapy. Then, it is up to you to tell me your story! I will probably ask a few questions, just to gather some background information. At the end of the first session, we will talk about our "fit" together. We will decide to either move forward together, or I will refer you to a different therapist who will be a good fit for you.
Is my information confidential?
Of course! Everything you tell me will be held in the strictest of confidence. Unless you give me express written permission to share your information with someone else, everything we talk about in the session will be kept private.
I noticed that you mentioned spirituality in your introduction. What if I am non-spiritual, or wish not to address my spirituality? Do you work with only one religion?
I deeply respect my client's beliefs, whatever they are. I will never, ever force my own beliefs on a client, or judge a client's beliefs. This also means that if you are an atheist, unsure, or simply wish not to discuss religion/spirituality, that's perfectly OK! And yes, I welcome all religions and beliefs into my office - Christian, Jewish, Muslim, Buddhist, Pagan, Agnostic, Hindu, and everything in between.
